For this project, we were given the system theme of Consume. When I first heard of this word, I immediately thought of eating. I enjoy eating so I thought it would be fun to create a game about consumption. But after a few thinking and planning out, it was hard for me to exactly make a game with eating. I had all these games in mind, but with the time constraint and my lack of coding aspect, I had to throw my first idea.
My first idea was to create an eating game with the main character of Moofy the chunkhamster. Unfortunately, not my hamster. Found him on Instagram and couldn't stop telling my friends about how cute Moofy was. I wanted to make a game where Moofy would be eating this pot of honey, but had to do it in discrete. His owner is on the couch watching TV. Moofy has to secretly finish this pot of honey without getting caught by his owner. Every time Moofy takes a sip from this pot of honey, he would slowly get bigger and chunkier. But, with my lack of skills in coding, I don't know how I would have executed this.
Therefore, I decided to go with another game with the same theme of Consume. Consume can also be applied to money. Money consumption. I wanted to keep the idea of having Moofy in my game. Because I lost so much time trying to plan out my first design of the game where Moofy eats, I wanted to go back to my previous planting simulator game. I thought implementing the aspect of consumption of money on my planting game simulator would be a good idea. It was also my goal in my planting simulator game to add the function of money coming in and out from buying and selling plants. Therefore, I quickly drew out Moofy in my own pixelated style and built my planting simulator game with the consumption of money! The inflow would be the money that Moofy originally starts from (which is the $100) and the outflow would be the money that goes out from the plants that Moofy uses to buy. Every time you click on the plants (harvesting), you gain money.
Of course, there is more space for improvements like sounds, more art aesthetics, and probably more specific code aspects to have the game run smoothly. Maybe with the money that Moofy gains, he can buy his pot of honey to eat? But with the limited amount of time I gave myself, this is as much as I could do. Other than that, I hope you enjoy Moofy gaining money by selling and buying plants :)
